 ALL THINGS ART   presents the premiere of an Original Drama: Saints and Sinners: Woman Maligned in History  written and  performed by Kathy Morris and Patricia Assumpta.  Hear each woman present her plight as she interacts with another across the centuries to expose commonality.  This unique production will be presented 3 times in 3 different locations.

October 24, 2009 at 7 PM  ~ South Bristol Cultural Center in Bristol

October 30, 2009 at 7 PM ~ Phelps Art Center in Phelps

Spaghetti Opera at All Things Art

Enjoy an evening of music, food and conversation with local Finger Lakes talent performing opera arias, lighter musical show tunes, duets, and trios.  It’ the Spaghetti Opera on October 17, 2009 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at All Things Art in Canandaigua. Musical director is Mark Darling and the evening’s M.C. is Fred Magley.   Top it off with a first-class dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, salad and desserts, coffee and tea prepared by Tom Encao and his family. You can even Bring Your Own Bottle.  This is one of the leading cultural events in Canandaigua.  Tables can be reserved by calling 585-396-0087. NYSCA Workshops Soon

On September 26th at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery, next door to All Things Art  (ATA), the NYSCA workshop on monotype for $65 ( materials charge additional)  will be conducted by Pat Rini Rohrer.  On October 3rd and 10th, Needle Felting for Embellishment is offered by Judi Cermak.  One session is only  $35 or one can take both for $65.  Finally, on the five consecutive Saturday mornings in October (3, 10, 17, 24 and 31), Elaine Neuhierl will teach participants to create a papier mache Santa Claus.  This class is $65 with additional charge for materials.  Visit www.ocarts.org for details.

Gingerbread Competition

In conjunction with the Christkindl Market 2009, All Things Art will feature the Gingerbread House Creation.  Entries may come from professionals, adults, teens and children.  Rules and regulations and the entry form are available at All Things Art and on the site www.ocarts.org.  It will be great fun! Entry is free. All entries, Silent Auction Bids and ballots for A People’sChoice Award will be displayed in the gallery at All Things Art from November 12 through the 19th.  Enter, visit, bid, and win a sweet treat for your holiday table.

Witches, Wolves and Water Spirits

Rand Darrow, artist, doesn’t read music, but he has created an opera based on the folklore of Novgorod.  Baba Yaga, among other characters, is represented in his artwork influenced by Chagall.  The collection is on exhibit at All Things Art, 65 S. Main Street, Canandaigua for the month of September.
Also, in the month, Darrow will conduct a workshop for families on creating a Baba Yaga on Thursday, September 17th at 7 pm.  Admission is a donation at the door.  On Thursday, September 24th at 7pm, he will play on his electric piano the “Songs of the Paintings.”  The performance is free and begins at 7pm.  It is an enchanting show and should not be missed.

A repeating series of inexpensive workshops, at two time slots on each date, are held at All Things Art, 65 S. Main Street, Canandaigua, NY.  A glance at the Art Council’s website (www.ocarts.org) will fill you in on dates and fees.  Everything from greeting cards, penny rugs, jewelry 101, mixed media mosaics, ART-i-fact Tiles, decoupage, sculpting with paperclay and basket weaving is to be had.  With dates from now till early October, call and register for a spot or use PayPal.

Coffee House on April 11th

Arthur  Porter will perform at ALL THINGS ART on Saturday, April 11th in an unplugged, acoustic coffee house type of show.  Porter is a singer and songwriter formerly with Trouble with Val.  Obviously coffee and refreshments will be available and admission is only $5 donation to the council.  Dramtic poetry selections will be performed at intermission.

Our first entry and a welcome to all who would care to come and visit us in Canandaigua, NY, in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region.

Ontario County Arts Council at its home at ALL THINGS ART FOR ALL PEOPLE, 65 S. Main St., Canandaigua, NY is an all volunteer, non-profit organization has been in existence for nearly 20 years, residing at the All Things Art Facility for the last 10 years. Our goal is to create a cultural and activity center for Canandaigua and the area communities by stating that ‘Making the arts accessible to all people’ is our mission. We bring art exhibits, children’s events, artistic workshops for all ages including writing, as well as dance, musical, theatrical and networking events such as Art Walk and participation in other downtown events and festivals. It serves as a forum for local artists to exhibit and perform.
